Post#: 248-18 – Words: 1003 – Audio: N/A

As this is being written it’s being reported that “someone” senior in the Trump administration.. an anonymous author, has written an op-ed  in the New York Times, indicting there is at least one,  if not more, individuals as being  “part of the resistance” inside the administration people working to make sure Trump stays in line.

HERE is the link to the text as reported in the NYT in full.

A part is below…

I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration

I work for the president but like-minded colleagues and I have vowed to thwart parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations.

President Trump is facing a test to his presidency unlike any faced by a modern American leader.

It’s not just that the special counsel looms large. Or that the country is bitterly divided over Mr. Trump’s leadership. Or even that his party might well lose the House to an opposition hellbent on his downfall.

The dilemma — which he does not fully grasp — is that many of the senior officials in his own administration are working diligently from within to frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations.

I would know. I am one of them.

To be clear, ours is not the popular “resistance” of the left. We want the administration to succeed and think that many of its policies have already made America safer and more prosperous.

But we believe our first duty is to this country, and the president continues to act in a manner that is detrimental to the health of our republic.

That is why many Trump appointees have vowed to do what we can to preserve our democratic institutions while thwarting Mr. Trump’s more misguided impulses until he is out of office.

The rest is up to you, the reader, to follow up on…

Ramifications?

As you would expect the media is going nuts over this.. with speculations galore.  But the takeaway of this thus far is what is not written, but between the lines.

First off, is this thing even legitimate or some political dirty trick prank?  Possible, but what tends to offset that idea is that the New York Times does attempt to vet their sources; they surely do NOT want to be the guys left standing should the music stop if this is just a single person with a political gripe against Trump.  This author is not anonymous to the Times, just to the public.  They are saying that publishing a very rare anonymous source is unique, but done because this person is risking their job.

(BTW.. this is likely NOT a whistler blower situation.. yet given it’s the President of the U.S… who might a person like this go to.. a member of Congress?  The DOJ?  The FBI?  ..and who within any of these organizations?)

Given that trust I place with the NYT as a credible source, I will accept this is a factually represented op-ed from a “senior administration source”.  This “senior source “ though could be anyone not even part of the Trump inner circle or even in the White House itself.  So at the moment we are not sure how deep, or laterally within the administration this is going.

Also, the Woodward book, with tidbits just having been released of some internal admin officials keeping some work away from Trump, this op-ed seems to underscore a more organized “resistance” to allowing Trump’s impulses to get the best of the country.  There seems to be a timing in play here.

This is NOT a Champaign-opening event by any stretch.

This is not a big “whoopee” for the left… or the right… or Trump base supporters… or the country.  We have a sitting President that is the midst of.. well, frankly put, is in the middle of a mutiny within his own administration on some level (my word.. mutiny.. I’ve not heard it elsewhere yet).

Personally, on the surface of it all, I am thinking what the title of this post indicates… finally someone on the conservative side is thinking country first!

Here’s the big BUT….

A mutiny “resistance” inside the White House, like on a ship, is NOT good for the safety and security of the nation.  This is making us vulnerable internationally in so many ways.  Yes.. there is growing concern about Trump’s behavior, incompetence, and inability to lead at the same time he is getting into growing legal problems from so many of his ex-associates… and we’ve not even hear from the Mueller investigation and I think we all have an idea where that’s headed.  Impeachment is NOT a easy or generally positive experience for the nation either.  But it IS a remedy for the President’s impulsive behavior and growing legal exposure… as is using the 25th Amendment.

Here’s another caveat to all this….. the President was duly elected by the people.  We have just learned that there are elements inside his administration that have openly declared their resistance to some or all of the President’s agenda, as good or as bad as that might be.  In essence they are sabotaging his efforts.  This does NOT mean his effort do not deserve sabotaging.. but those people in this “resistance” were NOT elected by the people, yet what they do on some level is asserting their own agenda… even it’s done under the presumption of “country first”.  Does this in itself constitute a legal definition of treason against a sitting president?  I do not know; just wondering.

Again.. this is not a cause for celebrating…. But getting everyone on board for what’s best for the country is necessary for both sides to proceed.

This author could very well go down if, they continue with these op-eds, as Trump’s “Deep Throat”.

(Note:  I find it an ironic point in history.. that one of the two guys who brought down a sitting president 45 years ago, stayed around to “rescue” us again.  Just proves you might be old.. but you can still matter when it counts).
