There it is; my new term I just coined today.  In this day of assigning labels using acronyms, mnemonics,  and various diminutives to establish something, some group… as having a separate social or political agenda that usually includes battling that social separation (paradox?)… I have my own to present to the world.

To give you the meaning of my new term I have to take you back to the days, not too long ago, where contemporary white folks had to consistently re-address terminology as it relates to trying not to give any impression or hint of being a racist; adapting to the current trends in political correctness so as not to offend some minority race in this country.  I’m sure you recall those heady days where white folks had to adjust to the various evolving new terms black folks preferred… then the Indians.. um, Native Americans… then the various religions… and now folks with sexual identity issues and gender identity issues… it’s all political correctness run amok.  And what demographic is the target of all that demand for political correctness?  Ready for it….

White, Anglo-Saxon, Protestant – Heterosexual… WASP-H.

Yep… that classification is the one I can be a card carrying member (as it turns out my recent spit-in-the-tube-and-send-it-through-the-mail test revealed I am 62{0ab7dfbf012a810114ec5acf7807847dfa23e59660bbc397f14557f2fcacba41} Anglo-Saxon).  Now.. being a member of the WASP-H “community” (can I say that?) means that I can share the blame assigned to all my fellow WASP-H’ers for founding America on white precepts (and over the dead bodies of… Native Americans), creating a Constitution that promotes white America, and being the great barrier to black civil rights in this country for over 200 years (and still counting, mind you).

Now, the term WASP is not new.  That was being used back in the hippie days.  I added the “H” to include the recent (years) protestations of all the people who have other than straight sexual… leanings (I suppose I could have gone “WASP-S” for straight… but it’s my word).  So, it seems the entire thrust of the LGBT.. (and any other letter you want to toss in there) effort is to make heteros accept the differences of.. non-heteros, which includes some social modification to who uses the ladies room or the men’s room without mainstream heteros raising an eyebrow.  So I am guessing here, WASP-H people, were responsible for separating bathrooms by gender so as to oppress the LGBT “community”.  (Hey, you think WASP-H people can have a “community”?  Oh.. wait.. it was our “kind” that created this dastardly country.. the oppressive social environment…  in which all these groups must suffer in).

With the recent proclamation by Trump that transgender folks in the military must now leave the service and all the subsequent  news coverage, I heard the term from the talking heads “transgender children” (or was it “transgendered children”?).  Huh?  I called my better half for some sort of clarification… “Do you know how kids become “transgendered”?”  I am thinking.. who is allowing kids to have sex operations??  Well, that led to doing research on current terms describing the various sexual variances.  For example.. transgender is the term for describing the variant of feeling you’re the wrong gender.  Transgendered  can describe having undergone the “transistion”.  But then I read the opening paragraph on Wikipedia…

Transgender people are people who have a gender identity or gender expression that differs from their assigned sex.  Transgender people are sometimes called transsexual if they desire medical assistance to transition from one sex to another. Transgender is also an umbrella term: in addition to including people whose gender identity is the opposite of their assigned sex (trans men and trans women), it may include people who are not exclusively masculine or feminine (people who are genderqueer, e.g. bigender, pangender, genderfluid, or agender).   Other definitions of transgender also include people who belong to a third gender, or conceptualize transgender people as a third gender.  Infrequently, the term transgender is defined very broadly to include cross-dressers, regardless of their gender identity.

UM.. ok.  Transgender can be transsexual.

Then I read more….

Being transgender is independent of sexual orientation:  transgender people may identify as heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, asexual, etc., or may consider conventional sexual orientation labels inadequate or inapplicable. The term transgender can also be distinguished from intersex, a term that describes people born with physical sex characteristics “that do not fit typical binary notions of male or female bodies”.

Then there is this…..

The degree to which individuals feel genuine, authentic, and comfortable within their external appearance and accept their genuine identity has been called transgender congruence.  Many transgender people experience gender dysphoria, and some seek medical treatments such as hormone replacement therapy, sex reassignment surgery, or psychotherapy.   Not all transgender people desire these treatments, and some cannot undergo them for financial or medical reasons.

 Transgender congruence???  Gender dysphoria??  WTF??

Look… I have absolutely NO problem “accepting” the sexual variances of humanity in society.  Usually associated with these differences are mental health issues (I am NOT suggesting non-heteros all suffer from mental issues), and even in the absence of those issues with persons not hetero, the struggle for some sexual identity has got to be tough, to put it mildly.  I am hetero.. and most certainly I will never, ever, be able to sexually empathize with LGBT folks since I will never walk a mile in their shoes.  But I can certainly empathize to the point that we humans are a diverse bunch and we truly need to accept our differences to assure a measure of quality of life for everyone.  I am a big mental health guy and I know full well that a lot of people in the non-hetero category do also suffer from mental health maladies, that may or may not be from sexual identity issues… or the effects of trying to suppress them.  I am just tired of always being the group.. WASP-H.. that is the cause for everyone else’s discomfort in this country… including having WASP-H ancestors who founded this country.. specifically for WASP-H’ers.

I recently read a post from follow blogger John Liming from  He responds to the recent Trump decision about transgender folks in the military.  He seems to just frustratingly accept the idea that.. what the hell, let ‘em all in the military.. who cares.  I gotta agree.  But I still reserve the right to wince and feel grossed out when I see two guys kissing  in public.  Also.. every time I see that on TV or in the cinema I think someone is trying to force something on me.  Conversely, seeing two girls do that.. well.. I’m a guy.  Maybe it’s social conditioning but I am entitled to have those feelings within me.  But those feelings do not drive any prejudices against LGBT.  Besides, at my age I’m not supposed to be having these feelings anymore.  Right?

So, here I sit… just another WASP-H.. accepting responsibility for my WASP-H ancestors for creating your social maladies, and for all WASP-H descendants, for your future social maladies.
